A Pizza Match Made at Matchbox

Sev and I took a walk around Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens and swung by Eastern Market for an easy snack on our way back home. We hadn't had pizza in forever, didn't want to spend exorbitant sums, and I was excited to show Sev American-styled restaurant service. The chain Matchbox Pizza, located on cheerful and bustling 8th Street, seemed like a good option.

We got some seats at the bar and I ordered the pepperoni pizza. I was so happy the bartender was so attentive—while service was friendly in Latin America, it was almost never fast. So it was a refreshing change of pace to wait about ten minutes between ordering and eating. And we got the check with the food, so we could abscond and finish walking around as soon as we were done. We got places to be!

Matchbox didn't disappoint. I loved the little pepperonis and thought everything was cooked very well. I left feeling really good and satisfied, and Sev was also pleased.

But our meal wasn't quite done.

We took a long stroll back to Logan Circle to admire the neighborhood and happened upon some kids selling lemonade for $.85 outside their house. Perfectly sweet way to conclude a charming adventure around Southeast D.C.
