Art District Dining

One of our favorite dinner spots in Cartagena was Basilica Pizzería Café, which is run by a friendly husband/wife team and is located in a hip, artsy part of town. We tried multiple dishes here, from pizza to pasta to dessert, and were never disappointed.
The interior of the restaurant is cozy and has a large door-sized window that allows for fresh air and a pleasing vista onto the square. The kitchen is visible from the dining room and you can get an idea of the status of the meal preparation by just guessing where the wife was at in the process. She seemed to do most of the meal prep herself with help from one assistant.
I’m not the biggest chicken pasta fan in the world, but sometimes I’m in the mood for it, and this one was excellent. I was still thinking about it a few days later. Sev, the easy-snack pizza expert, was equally impressed with the ones he ordered.
I tried both their dessert pizza and panna cotta and particularly like the panna cotta, which was large enough for Sev and I to share comfortably.
The street the restaurant is located on is also home to one of the special humanoid tin-man statues that dot the city, this one of a guy fishing. It’s also next door to a cute clothing store where I bought a skirt (which isn’t nothing—I only bought 4 articles of clothing this whole trip).
We definitely recommend swinging by this cute dinner spot—it’s got it all!
