Bürgenstock hike

The Bürgenstock is a small mountain near the Lake of Lucerne. It is accessible by road to the Bürgenstock Resort, by the Hammetschwand elevator (the longest outdoor elevator in Europe at 150 meters) or by many different hiking paths. We decided to hike so we drove to the Hotel Villa Honegg where we parked our car and then followed a good marked path up the mountain.
The hike is really easy and only about 45 minutes long. We first walked through a forest and then over some meadows. At the end of the path is the Hammetschwand elevator and the Hammetschwand restaurant.
There were some cows in the field around the restaurant. They are used to tourists so they are really friendly and curious and stared at us while we were sitting at a table. We gave them some pets and it was clear that they enjoyed it as much as we did.
We ordered a coffee in the restaurant and enjoyed the view. The weather was not perfect so we could not see all the mountains around but this is a good reason to go back one day when it is better.
On our way down we decided to visit the Bürgenstock Resort. This is a building complex of over 30 buildings including four luxury hotels. The resort was built by the Qatar Investment Authority and due to the extensive expansion of the Bürgenstock Resort, the charm of the hotel mountain, with the typical Swiss mountain hotels, was lost. I could not see any guests there and most of the places seemed to be closed. We followed another path down the mountain to arrive at our car about 30 minutes later.
