Dinner and Lunch at All Purpose Pizza
24 Apr 2022 by Amby
Somehow I managed to eat here twice in 24 hours, once for dinner and the next day for lunch. So I guess that makes it blog-worthy. The pizza was actually really good and the service was even better! All Purpose has two locations in D.C. I was at the Shaw restaurant.
I ordered the Vespa pizza ($21) for dinner (porcini crema, mozz, cipollini onions, wild mushrooms, black truffle sauce).
The waiter asked if I had any allergies and I said I had a garlic sensitivity—I won’t die if I eat garlic I just might get a little itchy if there’s a lot of garlic in a dish. But I told him I’m willing to roll the dice if there’s garlic in the pizza.
He went to the kitchen and came back saying the chef wanted me to have the best pizza experience, so offered some alternatives to the garlic-flavored sauce in the pizza.
I accepted the alternative and was delighted by how good it tasted, and I had no allergic reaction whatsoever. I really appreciated the thoughtfulness!
I also got the Old Town Lager ($8). Cool and refreshing after a long day of travel!
The next day I got the Tripper ($21) pizza for lunch (tomato, beef meatballs, sheep’s milk ricotta, neonata, fresh oregano). It was pretty good, but I preferred the Vespa from the night before.
Pizzas are personal and not good for sharing, but they tasted so good I finished them completely—something I am not always able to do.
The atmosphere is friendly, fun, clean, and the location is very convenient. Five snacks for All Purpose!
Side note: I came here with some friends both times but I must say pizza just tastes better when I eat it with babe <3
