If you are in Vienna, the Naschmarkt is a great place to visit. It is an open market with over a hundred stands. You will find dishes and snacks from all over the world there. Between the stands are many small restaurants with seats inside and outside.

We were looking for traditional viennese food, so after a short search we found the "Wiener Wirtshaus am Naschmarkt". There was a lot going on in the market so we decided to sit inside to get away from the crowd. The waiter arrived quickly at our table and we both ordered the schnitzel with mashed potatoes and a wheat beer.

A small salad was included in the schnitzel menu. Amby ate most of it but did not like it too much. It was a bit too boring for her and she did not like the dressing. I generally don’t eat salad so I cannot judge it myself. The schnitzel and the mashed potatoes tasted really good. They prepared the mashed potatoes with some fried onions on top which I really liked.

After lunch we walked through the market and checked out all the different things you can buy there. Amby bought some dried lavender to brew lavender lattes at home.

The Naschmarkt is a nice place to see and if you are hungry you can go to one of the many restaurants. The Wiener Wirtshaus am Naschmarkt was a good choice and both Amby and I would go there again.
