Bry found a splendid bar online and really wanted to go for our day trip to Basel. It was honestly perfect. It felt high-end, it tasted high-end, annnnd it cost high-end.

If you have some francs to spare and are looking for a fancy cocktail experience, Grand Hotel Les Trois Rois delivers.

The Grand Hotel Les Trois Rois is first and foremost a five-star hotel, with rooms starting around 660 CHF a night. But while you save up for that you can go past their lobby and to their bar to get a taste of the high life.

The service was top-notch and the waiter brought us a little snack plate with chips and nuts to start out. The menu features both classic cocktails and house-featured inventions.

I chose the Deyans Pineapple Express (24 CHF), which combined rum, pineapple, and coconut. The waiter assured me it was not sweet, as I really don’t like sweet drinks. It was perfect.

Bry got the Tobias Dreams of Japan (24CHF), a gin, ginger tea, and grapefruit cocktail. He also got the Mystic Gion, an award-winning vodka and peach bitter concoction.

While the price was a lot higher than you’d expect at an average bar in Switzerland, we loved the atmosphere and service, and consider the cost just a part of the experience. The drinks themselves were unique and tasted great.

We both give Les Trois Rois a resounding five snacks.
