Gatos, Ocean, and Arepas

Sev and I spent a week at the Selina in Palomino and, as usual, were not satisfied with the quality-for-price of the food available at the Selina restaurant. The breakfasts were especially outrageous, where a basic dish like huevos rancheros would run $7. Amazingly, the restaurant at the hotel right next door offered the perfect alternative to start our day.
Villa Delia had arepas for about $2.50 USD. These arepas were made to order and came with eggs, salsas, ham and refillable coffee. Likely because of COVID restrictions, there were not very many tourists in Palomino, especially on the weekdays, so we often had the place to ourselves.
The restaurant was open-air, and was about thirty feet from the ocean, so the view was great and there was a nice breeze. There were also three or four cats that lived at the restaurant. These cats were very friendly and would sit next to us, or even at take a seat at the table, while we ate. Sev and I both like cats so this was perfect.
After we discovered this place half way through our stay it became our go-to breakfast stop, and each time the arepas were well prepared, tasty, and filling. If you’re in Palomino and don’t want to pay resort prices, Villa Delia is a perfect breakfast option. Five snacks. Easy.
