We stayed at our friend's place in Torreon for a week. On Sunday they took us on a daytrip to Cuatro Cienegas, a village 3 hours north east of Torreon. This is a tourist place in the desert. After a long day of sightseeing we decided to go to the Hacienda 1800 for dinner.

We did not stay at the hotel but the restaurant is open for everyone. To get to the restaurant you have to pass the outside area of the hotel. There is a big pool with a nice pool bar and some hammocks hanging over the water. Everything looks really nice and it could be a good place to stay if you are in Cuatro Cienegas for a few days. The restaurant has an outside and an inside area. We decided to go inside to be in an air-conditioned room. We were outside all day and it was really hot, so we needed to cool down a little bit.

I ordered pasta bolognesa and a cold beer and Amby got fried rice and a beer as well, our friends ordered tacos. The waiter was really friendly and super professional. He also explained to us about a winery we planned to visit the next day. It took quite some time till the food arrived and everyone was slightly disappointed. The waiter told us there was a problem with the gas in the kitchen, I guess this caused some food to be finished a lot faster than others. My pasta was really soft by the time I got it, our friends' tacos were cold and Ambys rice was bland.

For Mexican standards, the price is rather high. The ambience, the service and the location are outstanding, but the food leaves a lot to be desired. Maybe we were unlucky and the kitchen crew just had a bad day. If you are around it is worth stopping by for a drink, but I would eat at a different location.
