Sev and I were famished by the time we got to Salzburg because our Deutschebahn train from Munich was cancelled twice and we arrived an hour later than expected.

After dropping off our stuff at The Keep hostel we made our way towards Lazarte, a Peruvian joint near the Old Town.

Sev and I are big LatAm food enjoyers so we were excited to try this place out, but it was a little disappointing. Here’s what happened.

I ordered the Plato Inka (14.50 EUR), which came with quinoa, corn, chicken, beans, lettuce, and avocado, marinated in a tomato sauce. That sounds amazing right?

It was only okay, and parts of the dish were hot and parts were cold, which I found confusing. I would not order this again.

Sev got the Seco de Carne (17.90 EUR), a Peruvian beef goulash with coriander, potatoes, and salsa. Sev really enjoyed it and said it tasted great.

Lazarte’s drink menu was special and had some unique Peruvian drinks, I got the Chicha Morada (5.50 EUR), a traditional drink made out of purple corn, and Sev got the Inka Cola (3.50 EUR), a national soda brand. We probably wouldn’t get these again but it was fun to try them.

The main problem was it took nearly an hour to get our food, and there weren’t very many people at the restaurant. I could see the owner and his three staffers preparing the food, but it just was taking way too long and we were withering away. While it was nice to see the food getting prepared in real time, because it was also practically in the dining room the noise level was a little loud.

For the long waiting time and my lackluster lunch, we give this 3 snacks.
