Live music in Sámara

The Blue Iguana is a hostel in the centre of Sámara. It has a good bar on the second floor and there is live music almost every night. The musicians are locals or Ticos from a village nearby. The bar mixes great drinks for cheap, and their speciality is the chiliguaro. It’s a mix of guaro (a type of spirit common in Latin America), tomato sauce and some kind of hot sauce.
The bar of the hostel is open for everyone and because it plays more live music than other places around, many of the guests from other hostels visit the Blue Iguana regularly. I usually went there to listen to music and get drinks, and then go to the nearby beach to spend the night at a bonfire.
Like all hostels in Sámara, people here are really chill. Many of them stay for multiple weeks and some are there for months. This can be a bit strange if you just arrived or if you only stay for a few days. It takes some time to get to know people, but after that you are part of the family and you will find friends in every hostel and on the beach of Sámara.
So if you like a relaxed atmosphere, good drinks, nice music and friendly people, the Blue Iguana is a great place to start your night.
