Lunch Amongst the Pine Panels
22 Jan 2023 by Amby
We were in Switzerland’s oldest city, Chur, so I wanted to eat somewhere that felt really old-school in the old town.
Sev and I searched for a while for the perfect spot until we found Franziskaner, which had a dining room covered entirely in pine paneling—a traditional design for alpine houses and restaurants.
I liked the dining room a lot and thought it gave a cozy feeling to the restaurant. All of Franziskaner’s dishes are local specialities.
I got the rahmschnitzel with buttered noodles (29.50 CHF). It was a ton of food for me, and while I did mostly enjoy it nothing about it was particularly mind-blowing. I also had a mineral water (4.50 CHF).
Sev got an elephant ear (29.50 CHF), which according to him is “a funny name for a big schnitzel.” He really liked his elephant ear, and also got a coke (4.50 CHF).
Fraziskaner also has a few rooms for rent which might be an interesting choice if you’re spending the night in Chur.
This lunch was on the pricier side but I guess you’re also paying for the vibe, and it’s in a convenient location for more exploration. We give the whole experience four snacks.
