We spent three weeks in Cartagena and mostly kept to the old city, but old cities can have new buildings. The Cartagena Mall (Centro Comercial La Serrezuela) is a circular, 5 story luxury brand mall that was one of the nicest I have ever been in. And they had a food court to match.

The mall is easy to get to on foot, but bring your ID, because a security guard checks everyone who tries to enter. What they were looking for exactly we never really understood—maybe our age? Don’t know.

On the top floor of the mall is the food court, which includes ten or so restaurants offering a wide variety of different cuisines, like Japanese, Italian and local specialties.

We opted for the MISIA restaurant. The employees there were very friendly and helped select food, also suggesting we get a pitcher of a popular drink that combines a red soda and beer.

Both of us were really impressed with the quality and taste of the food, and enjoyed the view from the top of the mall while we ate. The price is pretty high for the area, and we each spent about $20. But we thought it was worth it to be in the fancy mall with the fancy food.
