Sev and I met up with some local friends for our last night in Mexico City, and they made reservations at Terraza Cha Cha Cha, a rooftop restaurant with a fantastic view of the Monumento a la Revolución, a famous Mexico City landmark.

Our plans hit a bit of a snag when we had reservations for 6:15 but because people were still using our table we were not able to go inside until nearly 7:00. It wasn’t that big of a deal, but I was pretty hungry by the time we sat down. While I was annoyed the hostess was not trying to be more accommodating given how long we had to wait, the restaurant waiters were extremely attentive and professional, so I came away with a very positive impression of the staff.

The menu had a nice selection and I went with the rib eye, which was very good—probably my favorite meal in Mexico City. It was flavorful and cooked perfectly, and although the accompaniments don’t look so great in the picture, they were very delicious. Sev got the chamorro de cerdo and also really enjoyed it.

Our friends recommended we try carajillo, a coffee/liqueur after dinner drink, which was great and something we would also recommend to our readers. I got the blackberry pie for dessert, and actually while the presentation was attractive I wasn’t a huge fan, it was too heavy and lacked a strong blackberry flavor. Sev’s flan was excellent though. Overall, it was a great meal for just $33 each.

The inside of the restaurant is very nice, but because it was a little chilly outside the view was obscured by these plastic covers acting as windows. But when it came time to leave we were able to go to a small outdoor area and take some pictures of the monument.

The Monumento a la Revolución itself is open to visitors until 8:30pm, so it’s a nice trip to get dinner and see the museum at the top of the elevator (although we were a little too late to go ourselves). For the long wait to get in, I'll subtract half a snack, but otherwise I thought this was a great experience.
