Night Time Italian Sausage

Since a rather unfortunate incident of norovirus for both me and Sev in Panajachel, Guatemala, I've been avoiding street food. While I've seen some very good options everywhere I've been since, to me it's just not worth the potential entire day of being sick.
An exception was made, however, for El Choripan. Technically El Choripan isn't really a genuine street food affair anyway as they have a very small brick and mortar shop on Quinta Avenida, which is probably why I trusted it. Sev and I stumbled upon the stand while wandering around Sunday night around 10:30 (we had actually gotten so distracted writing blogs that we forgot to go eat until quite late). The stand had a small crowd of customers around it, it looked and smelled great, and we were really hungry. They sold spicy and not spicy Italian sausages on a toasted roll with a variety of condiments for 40 pesos. A bit pricey for what you were getting, and for that I will eliminate a star, but it was a filling and tasty meal which we could enjoy while walking around town and taking in the night life.
We both got the spicy sausage, but it wasn't really that spicy. I put the picante sauce on it which gave it an extra kick and tasted great. I can't drink at the moment thanks to some medication I'm on, but I imagine this would be a very popular option for those coming out of the many bars and clubs nearby. Even completely sober, it was a very fine sausage.
In terms of ambiance, it's a food stand, but it was nicely designed and built. The food is prepared on a grill right in front of you. It's on a busy but not crowded street. The people running the stand were friendly and helpful. We really liked it.
The stand does not sell drinks, however, and we had to complete the meal with iced tea from a pharmacy, which really was no problem as we were enjoying the walk around town anyway. For a simple, filling meal you can take around town with you, El Choripan is a great option.
