One More Cappuccino Before We Go

After checking out of our Airbnb we headed to the Parque la Reforma right next door and got breakfast at Cafe Las Fincas. I tried to go to this cafe earlier in the week but couldn’t order because they didn’t take card. This time I came with Sev in tow, who had the cash.

I got hotcakes and a cappuccino, and Sev got a chocolate muffin and a cappuccino. The coffees were served in giant cups and was very tasty. As someone who depends on caffeine to survive the mornings, this definitely did the trick after waking up early to pack and get ready for the flight.

I was less impressed with the hotcakes, which were kind of cold and over cooked. There was an attractive fruit display on top, but I thought the fruit choices of kiwis and grapes didn’t really go with the hotcakes. I also asked for butter but the butter I received seemed artificial and didn’t taste like real butter. So I wouldn’t recommend this menu item, although Sev really liked his muffin.

Not as good as it looks! Not as good as it looks!

What it lacked in hotcakes it made up for in ambiance, the location is very good and you get a great view of the Reforma Plaza, which has nice plants and architecture. They also played good music, like classical violin, at an inoffensive volume. The couple that worked there also spoke great English, which is helpful for people like me who try, but struggle, in Spanish.

So overall it’s a good place to grab a muffin and a cup of coffee while you tour the city, but at $6 per person it’s a bit more expensive than the average Guadalajara cafe and the hotcakes are one to avoid.
