Seeking Southern Food in Atlanta

We were in Atlanta for one day because our layover flight was delayed so I thought this was a great opportunity to show Sev some Southern food. We were in a really central location, close to the Georgia Aquarium and Coca-Cola World, so I thought we’d have a few options to choose from. Unfortunately, that wasn’t exactly the case, while this was a major tourist area, there really weren’t any non-chain restaurants.

We weren’t going to spend our one meal in Atlanta on Waffle House or Hard Rock Cafe. Luckily Atlanta Breakfast Club was available.

A lot of other people must’ve been feeling the same way because the restaurant was packed. We got on the hour-long waiting list and decided to walk around Olympic park and get a snackaroo until our number came up.

Waiting in line Waiting in line

The restaurant had a handy app we could use to estimate our wait time and see our exact place in line, which we really liked!

The app alerted us when our seat was available and we made our way over right away. Unfortunately for us it didn’t seem like our table was actually ready and we had to wait an additional 15 minutes at the restaurant

We got the table. I ordered the Southern Benedict (two sunny side eggs, turkey bacon, and black pepper gravy over biscuits) for $14.95 and Sev got the chicken and waffles for $15.95.

I also got a sweet tea which came in this interesting little bottle for $3.50. Sev got a coke also for $3.50.

I thought my food was extremely good. I was very happy with it. The sauce was perfect, the biscuits were excellent. I loved it. Sev, however, didn't like his dish. He says: "it was not a real dish. It was like a child tries to cook something. I mean, waffle, with a chicken in the middle? A waffle chicken sandwich??"

To be honest I don't know why he ordered it because it was pretty obvious that's what he was going to get. I guess you live and you learn in Atlanta!

Another problem with the restaurant is that the music is extremely loud. Like, really really loud. It sort of put me in a bad mood because it was hard to talk and be understood because of how loud it was.

So sadly for these reasons we have to give 2 snacks, just too loud, too disorganized waiting for a free table, and for Sev, not great food. But if you’re in the area and want Southern food this might be your only option, so order the biscuits!
