The Keep Eco Rooms

I thought The Keep looked super cute on Booking.com, with nature-themed decorations and a chill friendly vibe that reminded me of the Selinas that Sev and I are big fans of.
They also happened to be one of the cheaper option in Salzburg ($82 per night), especially since we booked the option with a shared bathroom. Here’s what we thought of our three-night stay!
The Good:
We booked for two people but got a three bed, including a bunk bed, which Sev promptly claimed for his own.
The hostel had a community kitchen where you could make coffee, and a community area to chill out, play games, and exchange books.
There was also a washer and dryer you could use for 2 EUR each, and a very pretty vegetarian restaurant, which we did not partake in but looked nice.
The location was also extremely good, a 15 minute walk to the old town along the river with very charming views along the way.
WiFi was also excellent, there were plentiful outlets in the room, and check in and check out is completely online which was convenient and relaxed.
The Less Good:
The building is located near a train line so you can hear the trains going at night, mostly this wasn’t too disruptive to our sleep though.
The walls however are pretty thin and the first night there were some sexual deviants engaged in activities until like 1:30 am which was pretty annoying. I only heard them because I was up so late to work but Sev slept right through it.
I would’ve liked more hostel-organized tours or other activities but they only have a weekly yoga, which we missed, and an herb class we would’ve had to book in advance.
The bathrooms had timers for the lights, I guess to be eco-friendly. I didn’t give the timer enough time once and ended up finishing a shower in the dark.
The Verdict:
It’s not exactly luxurious but we thought there was value for money given the style and location. Would definitely recommend for budget travelers.
