The Swiss Bakery

While Sev and I were driving in our Uber to our Mexico City Airbnb, we noticed the Pastelería Suiza from the car window. As soon as we dropped off our things in the room, it was the first place Sev wanted to go.
We were not disappointed. Pasteleria Suiza has the coat of arms of Geneva, a Swiss canton in the French-speaking area, on the front. The bakery offered a wide variety of pastries, both refrigerated and not, and it was really hard to pick which ones to get. Sev and I each got two. I don't even know what to call some of these, but trust me, they were excellent. Other than the food, the best part is the bakery is right next to Parque Espana, a very pretty park with two nice dog parks where you can watch dogs play.
When you enter you pick up a large metal tray and some clamps to pick up the pastries. And when you're done, the food is wrapped in this newspaper-like paper with French cartoons and string and has a charming old-timey feel.
We went back multiple times over the two weeks we spent in Mexico City, and each time I got something new. Sev seemed to like sticking to the same kind of pastry, a cherry pie—we even bought a large cherry pie to eat over the course of several days. They also offer a large variety of chocolates and cold desserts.
The price is a little high for Mexico—the full-sized cherry pie cost 380 pesos, or about $19 USD, and the smaller items ranged from $2-$4, but the quality is proportionally high and we thought it was completely worth it. Especially compared to places like El Globo, a chain pastry shop on our block where half the things are stale. Pasteleria Suiza is an easy five snacks, and I would definitely recommend it to our readers.
