This was a Loud One

Sev and I headed to 10 Avenida Nte, which is a couple blocks off the main tourist street of Quinta Avenida and has many interesting mid-priced restaurant options (not to be confused with 15 Avenida Nte street, which we recommend for cheaper fare).

We tried to access the BBQ place La Taberna, which looked pretty good, but while waiting in line for other customers to complete temperature checks/hand sanitizing, we were approached by a waiter from the restaurant across the street to check out his place instead. It seemed like a reasonable proposition given we weren't particularly committed to our first choice and didn't feel like waiting in line. So we went with him.

Neither of us like loud music. Perhaps this is because we are getting old. But even so, this is a fairly normal attitude as loud noises are scientifically proven to elevate heart rate and cause other health problems over the short and long term. Plus, I enjoy conversing with Sev and this becomes more difficult when I have to yell for him to repeat himself. La Cuatro, although open-air, was almost unbelievably loud. It wasn't really their fault though, as the music was coming from an upstairs venue which had a live band. Although we didn't complain about it, the waiter was very apologetic anyway. We were the only people in the restaurant.

Sev got the tacos al pastor and a beer and I got the sirloin tacos and water. For the couple minutes between each song we were able to have snatches of conversation but otherwise ate the tacos while staring at each other as noise assaulted our ears. The tacos themselves were a bit too bland for me. So overall I really would not recommend this place, although maybe it's better during the day or on a night when the upstairs venue doesn't have live music. La Taberna is still intriguing to us so hopefully we can go there before we leave.
