I had an appointment in Judiciary Square this afternoon, so it was a great opportunity to drop by Wiseguy Pizza, which I’ve enjoyed over the years for their pizza by the slice options. It’s been a while since I’ve been, but I really liked some of their new options.

I got the paneer tikka pizza, which had Indian spices, sauces, and cheese, and The Godfather pizza, which had sausage and pepperoni. Sev got the square of spicy pep and a cheese pizza slice. Specialty pizza slices are about $4.60, cheese is $3.50 and pepperoni is about $4.00.

I was surprised by how much I enjoyed the paneer tikka pizza, as I’m normally pretty conservative when it comes to pizza. But it was great and really accomplished the difficult task of fusing pizza and Indian food. I also liked The Godfather as a more traditional option, but it was a bit salty for my tastes.

For drinks I suggested Sev try Cheerwine, which is a popular soda in the American South that he hadn’t heard of before. He enjoyed. He also tried to see if the table, chairs, and floor would like it as well as he knocked the half-full bottle over at the end of our meal. (Which he promptly and politely cleaned up.)

I had a soda fountain drink. Wiseguy offers Boylan sodas, which use cane sugar rather than high fructose corn syrup, and, I think, tastes better because of that. I got the cherry soda.

Sev is giving this four snacks because “it tasted good but the restaurant smelled a bit strange and was not really clean.” I have to agree. But all told, it was a very nice lunch with my love!
